Viñedos Calcu and Viña Maquis share a winery located in the Pamilla area for winemaking, ageing and storage.
The winery was built in 2002 on the Viña Maquis estate with a focus on sustainability. It has state-of-the-art technology allowing grapes and grape juice to be transported by gravity to preserve aromas and polyphenols. In this way, the best characteristics of each wine variety are expressed in the purest manner possible.
WINERY CHARACTERISTICS
The winery was designed to use gravity for transporting grapes and grape juice in the most careful manner possible. The qualities of the grapes, their aromas, flavors and tannins are therefore preserved, ensuring a higher quality in the resulting wines.
Only hydraulic presses are used to maximize the quality of the wine extracted from the press.
Fermentation vats of different sizes ensure that the winemaking process for each batch can be carried out separately, in order to obtain a variety qualities and blends.
The winery is equipped with a geothermal plant that allows the temperature of the vats to be controlled in a natural way, thereby drastically lowering the consumption of electricity and gas, as well as decreasing the carbon footprint.
There is natural light and an excellent air flow in the fermentation area, significantly decreasing the risk of worker accidents.
