Futa means “big and magnificent” in Mapudungún, the indigenous Chilean Mapuche language.
This wine brings together the determination of the Hurtado family and the talent of Eric Boissenot to achieve a World class Cabernet Sauvignon, with a style marked by its freshness and elegance.
Its grapes come from small blocks planted in vertical trellises on deep soils with a high clay content.
The winemaking is carried out with gravitation, and the alcoholic fermentation is produced at low temperatures in stainless steel vats to preserve the aromas. Later the wine is aged for 24 months in French oak barrels especially chosen for their elegant character and respect for the fruit.
The result is a powerful, fresh and extremely elegant wine. It is one of the preferred cabernet sauvignons among prestigious Chilean and international wine critics, who highlight Futa’s complexity, ageing potential and elegant tannins.
Futa is presently the maximum expression of the cabernet sauvignon at Viñedos Calcu.
