Calcu Winemaker’s Selection is a blend expressing the power and clean fruit character of its terroir in Marchigüe. It has tannins that fill the mouth, a fresh palate and a long, persistent finish.
Winemaker’s Selection is generally a blend of cabernet sauvignon, cabernet franc and carmenere, but there is some freedom to incorporate other varieties, as will be done in future versions.
Its grapes come from small blocks in sectors planted with low vertical trellises or using the gobelet system. Just like other Calcu wines, the winemaking is carried out gravitationally. The final blend is made soon after the harvest and ageing takes place in French oak barrels for 18 to 24 months.
Calcu Winemaker’s Selection seeks to express the strength and character of the terroir. It is impregnated with a unique hallmark, characterized by intense fresh fruit – generally dark, mineral notes, and tannins that fill with mouth with tremendous body.
Calcu Winemaker’s Selection stands out for its deep and bright red-purple color. The nose reveals notes of black cherry, fresh plum and a clear presence of different types of black fruits. The palate shows a great body with an elegant tannic structure, and a fresh and fruity finish.
